Come see us during the 2025 season! … We opened our restored Western Maryland Railway Station Visitors Center and Museum on April 1st! We will be here to greet you between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily – with the exception of Easter Sunday – from April 1st to October 26th. We look forward to seeing you here!

Karen Oakes looking forward to her fifth season as station manager … Karen Oakes will serve as manager of our restored railway station for her fifth season in 2025. Virginia May, Anna Stewart and Brittania Oakes join her as a station attendants. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated staff on hand to welcome our guests!

Special Displays Honoring Harry Beal and Celebrating the 125th Somerset County Fair … Thanks to Harry’s family, throughout 2025 we will display photographs and pieces of memorabilia belonging to the late Harry Milton Beal, Meyersdale native and our nation’s first Navy SEAL. We are also showcasing a special display celebrating the Somerset County Fair’s 125th anniversary. We express our gratitude to volunteer Lynn (Brown) Shaffer for organizing this display.

Halloween at the Station! … We will again greeted trick-or-treaters of all ages during our community’s annual Halloween celebration in October. Families enjoy visiting the station annually to see our museum displays and pick up some goodies. Historical society board members and friends are on hand to greet them.

The doors of the Big Savage Tunnel were opened for the 2025 season on March 24th.

Our station will close for the season on Sunday, October 26th.

The Maple City Farmer’s Market will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday June through September at the Paul E. Fuller Park, 275 Grant Street, Meyersdale.

Meyersdale’s annual Fourth of July celebration … Each year our community marks the Fourth of July the Sunday prior to the holiday with a special day of activities capped off by a memorable fireworks display.

The 78th annual Pennsylvania Maple Festival was celebrated April 5th and 6th and 9th through 13th, 2025.
